ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2nd, 1989 to Pamela Morgan and Michael Morgan. Morgan was raised by her parents in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan was an athlete of multiple sports throughout her youth, but she was only introduced to soccer when she was 14. Morgan was a member of the Cypress Elite club team and took home the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. Morgan also finished third place in the bracket for under-19 players. Morgan continued to train at Diamond Bar High School, where she worked on her soccer abilities. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) picked Morgan to be an All-American Athlete. She also participated in the Olympic Development Division's regional and state divisions. Morgan continued her career in soccer at UC Berkeley where she was the California Golden Bears' leading scoring player from the start of her first season. Morgan was instrumental in getting the team to the NCAA Tournament every year and twice to the second round. Morgan was among the four finalist for the Honda Sports Award. She was also the first Hermann Trophy finalist from her school. Morgan was a graduate in 2010 and had the third highest number of goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan was a soccer player at the collegiate and national levels throughout her time at school. Morgan suffered an ACL injury in her first season with Berkeley. The injury prevented her from playing in U.S. women's soccer under 20 until April of 2008. Morgan scored her first international goal in Mexico during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also a part-time player at the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals and earned the team gold medals. One of them was a win over Italy which secured the U.S. team the final place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player of the team, and he was the captain of the U.S. team to victory over France. Morgan was the team's youngest player, and helped them win against Japan.
